I Now Know the Proper Way to Saute

So apparently I need a kitchen the size of the culinary academy in order to be a successful chef. Sitting in class, I actually wanted to learn things! The instructor asked me if know nothing about cooking, why am I writing a book on it? Good point but I am determined to continue forth! By the way, did you know there are over 3500 varieties of potatoes?!?!

The Writer's Block

I was nervous at first, but then I relaxed and had a good time answering questions and talking to readers and other writers. I thought there would be glaring lulls but it was surprisingly steady both days! I love for people to reach out to me and ask questions or leave comments because writers are just as shy as readers and we need the encouragement. Thank you to everybody who participated. I appreciate it very much!

Going to culinary school for book #3! It starts Monday. I'm super excited!! Not that I plan to master the art of cooking, but just being surrounded by everything will make me a master of capturing the essence of it all. Bon appetit!

No More Days of the Week

I simply give up. I never can remember the days of the week. Not what they are but when they are. Wed I thought it was Monday all day. I don't really have a set schedule so it's hard to keep up. I do know weekends because I can feel the collective sigh of Friday afternoons.

From the Mouths of Babes

When I was a little girl, I told my mother that I would never dye my hair. She dyed hers all of the time. She was a beautician and worked at this little German hair salon where little old gray hair ladies would slowly shuffle in and they would all leave looking the same. Same poofy hair style and same dark hair color. It's like my mother only knew one style. God knows she couldn't cut a straight line. You just have to look at every single elementary school pic of me and my sis to know that. BUT they all loved her because she could schmooze with the best of them. She made them look and feel young again.

Some days I would help her dye her own hair - rolling my eyes because she did it almost every other week. That just seemed so harmful and wasteful.

When I graduated college I noticed a few gray hairs on my head. I had the big puffy hair of the late 80s early 90s so I could hide them and didn't give them a second thought.

Today L'oreal and I are besties. I might actually own stock in the company. I have to plan events around the root touch ups because I am probably half gray. My mom loves to point that out every time I see her. Of couse it's usually every two weeks and for some reason, my hair always looks a different color to her...

The Thrift Store

I help/advise a thrift store with an ebay store. I love love the guys who run it. Young, beautiful and strong. Funny, too. One of the guys went deep sea fishing with a group of his friends. The latest thing now before the catch and release is taking a selfie with said caught sea creature. This makes me laugh. How cool, right?

This Weekend - The Writer's Block

4/21/2015

So this weekend I will be dogsitting again. While I am up at my parents' house I will be on The Writer's Block - a question and answer forum both Sat and Sun. If you are interested in asking questions, make sure you are a member of the Lesfic Group on Facebook. If you aren't, let me know and I will add you to the group. This is your chance to ask me questions and see how I answer other questions asked. Sat will be extremely informative whereas by Sunday I will be done and my answers will be whimsical and perhaps humorous. I don't do meetings. I can't sit for too long in one spot. All weekend will probably stress me out.

Stuck in Nashville

So Nashville must have eight foot long runways because the second the tires hit asphalt, the brakes were applied. Hard. Then we bounced then we finally stopped. The landing was fine but the stopping scared the shit out of me. And now the flight to New York is delayed. Sigh. Have I mentioned before how much I hate flying? At least the flight home is direct.

Here's the problem of watching a show that has been on for several seasons...i cheat. Yep, I hit the internet until I find the answers. Some things I wait on but am still curious about...like what happens to the dragons in season two, when does Arya return to Winterfell, etc. I had to find out about the little punk king because he is just a little asshole. So I hope to have the series done by the end of May. Then we can really talk about it!

Me Being A Girl

4/15/2015

So I am getting my hair worked on today for the upcoming trip. It needs highlights and a trim. Adding pink just because I love being a girl. Might even add blue because I love being a boy, too. I wish I could pamper myself all of the time. At some point I will have to figure out what I will wear on the trip because the pile of laundry I have to do is overwhelming and I've ignored it long enough.
